Platon waterproofing membrane systems can be used for a wide variety of applications to include:
Unlike conventional cementitious tanking systems, Platon waterproof membranes allow water into the building and then control it into a collection point before it is removed. The Platon waterproof membranes work alongside the Platon drainage system which is installed at the base of the waterproof membrane to collect the water that penetrates into the substrate and drops down behind the waterproof membrane. Once the water is collected in the drainage system it is diverted into a natural soak away, sewer or into a sump pump system to be evacuated from the building.
Traditionally in the UK cementitious tanking systems are applied to below ground structures, but if the structure is subjected to hydrostatic water pressure, the resulting bending stresses are often far too great for the barrier system to cope with and therefore de-bonding or cracking, resulting in failure will occur. The installation of the Platon membrane doesn’t change the status quo and therefore Platon cavity membranes are ideally the most suitable and economical method of providing an effective and long lasting waterproofing system that is also sympathetic towards building structures.
Our membrane systems are manufactured by Isola, which is the original inventor of studded membrane systems. The Isola group was founded in 1940 and have since become the one of the world leaders in the field of waterproofing membranes for the construction industry. Membrane systems are not just used for below ground waterproofing, they can be used above ground, over a contaminated or damp background, to support a dry lining or flooring. If existing walls affected by damp have well adhered sand and cement renders present, they can be left in place prior to membrane application. This allows us to minimise the amount of disruption caused by taking off existing plaster and render.
Damptec Plastering have completed a new project, installing membrane systems in an old folly.
"Just a few words to say how pleased we are with the works undertaken by Jason and his team, They have been very professional throughout and have done a great job.
We will be getting Jason back when the weather improves to attend to the exterior of the building."
